History

Valley Family Center was founded in1983 at a local church in the City of San Fernando. The Center quickly outgrew the space available and in late 1980s was incorporated as an independent 501(C)(3) non-sectarian corporation, and moved to a 3,500 sq ft. purpose-built facility on Mission and Mott Street in the City of San Fernando. Due to substantial damage to the building in the 1994 earthquake the Center relocated to its current location on Brand Blvd., in 1996.

In 2007, a new addition was completed which more than doubles the program space available. This has enabled an expansion of existing services and will allow for the initiation of new programs to meet the needs of the community into the future. An experienced staff of marriage and family therapists, both licensed and interns under supervision, provide counseling and therapy services. A staff of professional educators, psychologists, group facilitators and administrators provide the services in the Learning Center, Testing and Assessment Program, Parenting and all programs related to Domestic Abuse and Anger Management.
